Eminent Silence Top Ten Albums 2015

It has been a good year in metal here at Eminent Silence.  Not for one minute do I think that I have managed to capture every release that has come out in the past 12 months (I work) but suffice to say that I have heard at least ten that moved me enough to make my end of year list.

10. Sulphur Aeon "Gateway To The Antisphere"

Whilst there is nothing new here, what has been done many times before on this album is still done very well.  It is DM done smartly without wankery yet composed cleverly enough to hold the attention.

9. Ad Nauseam "Nihil Quam Vacquitas Ordinatum Est"
2014 was the year for bonkers, spazzing DM but this particular box of moshing frogs missed the deadline and only got released in March of this year.  Technical yet mental.

8. Deiphago "Into The Eye Of Satan"
A more hybrid form of the raging beast that is Deiphago started to form on this release.  No less brutal than previous outings just more focused and sharp.

7. Tsjuder "Antiliv"
You always know what you are getting with Tsjuder.  Like a bike at Xmas, no matter how you package it your kids know what it is.  Long live Tsjuder and fuck everyone else.

6. Napalm Death "Apex Predator - Easy Meat"
Yep, 15 albums in and they still fucking rule.  I can't remember a Napalm Death album I have enjoyed so much in years.

5. Vastum "Hole Below"
After the somewhat "meh" mediocrity of their last outing, Vastum returned triumphant in 2015 and ticked all the boxes with this sick as fuck and heavy as shit release.

4. Lluvia "Eternidad Solemne"
"Eternidad Solemne" makes me tired when I listen to it.  It is BM that takes you on a journey and for every freezing cold, bleak as fuck mountain it makes you climb, there's always the offer of a soothing dip in dark, tranquil waters never too far away.  Best BM release in a long time.

3. Krallice "Ygg Huur"
To have your physical being jarred, to the extent that you actually shift in time and space yet somehow still remain one of 2015's most memorable and accessible (to these scarred ears anyways) releases shows a musical prowess that few can ever hope to top.

2. Black Breath "Slaves Beyond Death"
The BB machine gets stronger with every release and 2015's effort is another step forwards in what has shaped up to be an extraordinary career thus far.  The lead work has been stepped up nicely yet that solid core remains.

1. Bell Witch "Four Phantoms"
It is top of my list for 2015 yet I still have so much work to do yet to fully fathom and truly appreciate the monumental force that is "Four Phantoms".  If everyone remembers where they were when JFK was killed or when man landed on the moon, I personally have no longer standing (or more vivid) a memory than April this year when whilst alone in a hotel room I dropped "Four Phantoms" for the first time.  Like a star collapsing in on itself or watching the earth eat itself alive the power of this album is fucking astonishing.  Dark room, headphones and a small bottle of whiskey give it an even darker edge (please drink responsibly dickheads).
